Job summary

Anaesthetic Specialist

Full time, 40 hours per week (10 PAs), permanent

This post is to allow expansion of anaesthetic services to meet the recent expansion and development of surgical services. A subspecialty interest can be developed and is encouraged.

This post will suit an appropriately trained clinician seeking career progression who is looking to join a forward thinking, motivated and friendly department. Team working is an essential attribute.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide, along with colleagues, an efficient and effective anaesthetic service to BHNFT:

They will be expected to provide anaesthetic services for elective surgical procedures in main and day theatres and for trauma surgery (including weekend and some BH trauma lists).

Additional duties will include day time senior cover of emergency surgery (working with a 1st on call anaesthetist-usually ST1/2) and potentially some commitment to obstetric anaesthesia and intensive care.

At least 12 years medical work post-registration of which a minimum of 6 years should be in a relevant specialty.

Qualifications

MBChB or equivalent.
Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC.

Desirable

FRCA, EDAIC or equivalent.
