An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the capsule endoscopy team. The post holder will be responsible for organising referrals, booking capsule pre-assessment, procedures and results clinic. They must have excellent IT skills and be experienced in working with current systems such as Medilogic (EMS). The post holder must have a good knowledge of referral pathways to ensure that procedures are booked accordingly.
The post holder must have excellent communication skills as this is a vital part of the role. Communicating with colleagues, Patients and other hospitals.
The post holder will be based on the endoscopy department but will also be expected to work off site at the CDC.
The post holder must be a highly motivated individual and have excellent organisation skills.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the booking of capsule endoscopy procedures. This includes booking pre-assessment, procedures and results clinic. The post holder will be responsible for prioritising referrals and a knowledge of referral pathways is vital for this role. For example, routine, urgent and 2 weeks wait.
A knowledge of capsule endoscopy is desirable as the post holder will be the first point of contact for patients.
It is essential that the post holder has experience of working with EMS, Medilogic and care flow in order to carry out this role.
The capsule service is an extremely busy service and the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that patients are given appointments in a timely manner.
Barnsley Hospital are one of the main providers of capsule endoscopy in south Yorkshire and the service is continuously developing, the post holder must be adaptable to change and enthusiastic to work within a developing service.
