We are looking for 2 highly motivated nurses to join our newly appointed practice educators team within CBU 2.

The role of the Practice Educator is to influence the quality of the clinical environment by providing support, educational input and development activities for both registered and unregistered healthcare staff and students on pre-registration training programs.

The role aims to enhance the quality of practice and positively contribute to the current and future healthcare professional workforce through providing department specific education and training, and expanding the knowledge base of nursing staff within the department. The post holder will work in close co-operation with all members of the Multi-disciplinary team.

We expect the candidate to have exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, enabling the candidate to work autonomously in the absence of the Lead nurse, but also be able to work within a team.

You must have an NMC registration, and a practice assessor/supervisor qualification.

Main duties of the job

To provide professional leadership across CBUs and organisation

To ensure consistent delivery of the highest quality and professional nursing across CBU and organisation.

To develop the nursing workforce ensuring that the right people with the right skills are working in the right place at the right time.

Work in collaboration with the Lead Nurse / Lead Clinical Educator for the department.

Participate in the development of clinical skills across the trust in line with the standards and recommendations.

Promote evidence-based practice in the care of the Acutely ill patient.

Develop, implement and deliver department specific skills training programme.

Develop and deliver both structured and unstructured training and educational sessions.

Promote an effective learning environment within the department.

Support and advise staff in the expansion of clinical skills and knowledge.

Support and facilitate the competency-based education package for new nursing staff.

Support nursing staff through post registration study.

Forge and maintain links with the various academic establishments involved in nursing care education.

Maintain links, and work in co-operation with the training and development department.

Participate in critical evaluation of incidents and be involved in action plans where lessons can be learnt.

Develop and deliver teaching packages based upon RCA or SI outcomes.
