Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has become available as Principal Information Analyst Population health in the Business Intelligence Team at
Barnsley Hospital. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team
hosted by Barnsley Hospital and will spend 50% of their time providing health
intelligence for BHNFT and 50% of their time providing Place-wide population
health intelligence to support the Barnsley Place Partnership.
The
function of this post is to produce innovative and informative intelligence
that will support decision making and strategic thinking across the Barnsley
Health economy by using data analysis, producing reports, quality assurance of
health intelligence products and supporting the provision of training and
translational support so that stakeholders can understand and act on complex
health intelligence. Communicating and visualising complex data is a key part
of this role, with the aim of developing a shared understanding of the health
and care environment.
This role is subject to job review at a band 7.
The
interview date for this role will be March 20th.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include:
Plan, manage and deliver on a range of public health and health care projects
in BHNFT and the Barnsley Place Partnership, which require potentially complex
analytic input using database queries and significance testing.
Demonstrate expertise in presenting findings of your own analyses to
internal and external colleagues and communicating analytical/statistical
matters to non-analytical/statistical partners.
Attend local meetings with key stakeholders including partner
organisations including Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, NHS South
Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, Barnsley Healthcare Federation and South West
Yorkshire Partnerships Foundation NHS Trust.
Support consistent,
routine reporting of health inequalities across the Barnsley Place Partnership,
and provide analytical expertise for the Barnsley health intelligence groups programme of deep dive projects.
Support delivery and monitoring of the Trusts
Improving population health and reducing health inequalities action plan, including
oversight of quantitative measurement and reporting into governance structures.
Support the analytical work of other members of the analytical team and
take a lead in developing and promoting quality assurance procedures.
Actively support and participate in networks for population health
intelligence specialists.

- Educated to first degree level, preferably in a numerate discipline such as statistics, mathematics, sciences, social sciences, economics, geography or similar.
Desirable
- Post-graduate degree in relevant field including public health, statistics, knowledge transfer, health economics or data science.

- Experience in the use of statistical and epidemiological methods for analysing data sets
- Experience of working with multiple sets of health related data and information systems in health related organisations
