Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as an Assistant Librarian within the Library Service at Barnsley Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a qualified librarian who is innovative and enthusiastic. You will be familiar with literature searching, information literacy training, and knowledge management. We pride our service on our innovative approach, and are looking for a candidate who will share this ethos. Excellent customer service skills are vital for this role, as well strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will also be required to have strong IT skills and an ability to solve problems. This role will give you the opportunity to develop your information skills and professional knowledge.

Main duties of the job

You will be based in a busy and highly impactful team at Barnsley Hospital which provides library and knowledge services. The successful candidate will contribute to day-to-day information services, while also working with the Library Lead to develop library services in line with Knowledge for Healthcare, the national NHS library strategy. This role involves working with library users to provide literature searches, training, current awareness, document supply, embedding knowledge management practices, and marketing and promoting the library service.
