An opportunity has arisen for an interesting, diverse role in the Clinical Governance team. The Clinical Governance team ensures that the Trust establishes, sustains and operates to an effective organisation wide clinical governance framework that supports the delivery of safe and effective patient care. The team provide a framework to support the CBUs and corporate services in reviewing, learning and improving patient safety and quality and ensuring the effective delivery of clinical governance activities across the Trust.

The post holder will provide support to the Clinical Governance team with the Trusts patient safety and quality agenda and in embedding the new patient safety incident response framework (PSIRF) into clinical, corporate and support services.

The role is based at Barnsley Hospital with some home working available.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3, apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide comprehensive administration support to the Clinical Governance Facilitators (CGFs) in respect to patient safety incident investigations (PSII) and other learning responses with links to all with Clinical Business Units (CBUs).

Provide administrative support for PSII and other learning response related meetings; e.g. never event panel meetings.

Collate the medical records and request other documents as required.

Deal with telephone queries regarding PSII, other learning responses and general clinical governance issues.

Ensure that investigation of PSIIs and other learning responses are adhered to within the appropriate timescales and escalate issues or matters of concern to the CGFs.

Assist the CGFs with PSII and other learning response action plans; keeping them up to date and providing copies to the CBUs.

Support the CGFs in ensuring actions are completed within timescale and collating evidence to support this.

Support the Clinical Governance and Compliance Manager in the completion of a monthly clinical governance update report for the Patient Safety and Harm Group.

Support the CGFs in the completion of monthly clinical governance reports for the CBUs.

Support the CGFs in coordinating the Trusts processes for ensuring compliance with the Duty of Candour regulation.
