This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Barnsley Hospital, Ward 22 Cardiology/Coronary Care unit in a fast-paced and high demanding role as our Ward Clerk.
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to apply who display our Trust values in everything that they do.
The post holder will be an integral member of the Ward team to ensure that it runs smoothly on a day to day basis. You will be required to maintain and monitor the patients records both in paper and electronic formats, update computer systems, answer and liaise with internal and external telephone callers and much more.
You will need to be able to manage your own workload through prioritisation, escalate any concerns appropriately to the senior nursing team on the ward and have excellent organisational skills.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have to collect notes for there area, ensure notes are complete with the relevant documentation of the patient andprepare notes for their area to assist clinical staff.
To complete a relevant bed state each morning to ensure each patient has been admitted/transferred/discharged whichever applicable. This bed state must be complete and up to date each morning.
To ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
To maintain and update casenotes, including filing of results.
To ensure that any casenote trolleys are kept in good order.
Photocopying of documents for transfer of patients.
To arrange outpatient appointments as requested by medical and nursing staff, checking if transport has been required and booking transport as necessary.
To return appropriate casenotes to secretaries and remaining notes to file.
To return notes once patient has been discharged and notes have been coded to the relevant location, ensuring all papers are securely filed with the casenotes.
To answer routine telephone enquiries for their ward.
To manage and maintain the stationery store in an orderly manner.
To undertake any other duties consistent with the grade.
To attend all annual mandatory training sessions.
