This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3, apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.
Role OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Administrative Maternity Support Worker to join our team. This role involves providing high-level support to midwifery and medical staff, ensuring a positive experience for service users through high-quality admission processes, reassurance, assistance, support, and information throughout their care episode.
Key Responsibilities
Provide efficient reception services for service users attending the Birthing Centre
Welcome and assist service users, relatives, and visitors, ensuring effective communication and empathy.
Act as the first point of contact for telephone enquiries, redirecting calls as necessary.
Undertake a variety of administrative and clerical duties, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
Maintain accurate information on the Hospital IT system, including patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and outpatient appointments.

Main duties of the job
Reception and Assistance
- Provide efficient and effective reception services for service users attending the Birthing Centre and Maternity Assessment Unit.
- Welcome and assist service users, relatives, and visitors, ensuring effective communication and empathy.
- Act as the first point of contact for telephone enquiries, redirecting calls as necessary.
Administrative and Clerical Support
- Undertake a variety of administrative and clerical duties, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Maintain accurate information on the Hospital IT system, including patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and outpatient appointments.
- Ensure case notes are complete and correctly filed, and manage patient records efficiently.
- Produce patient identification bands on admission and input birth details onto the Maternity IT system.
- Under instruction input information onto relevant audit databases
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the multi-disciplinary ward team to maintain high standards of ward management and patient care.
- Promote a corporate approach to patient care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
Communicate effectively and show empathy with patients and relatives on arrival to the ward
