An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and motivated Band 6Physiotherapist to join the Urgent Care Team at Barnsley Hospital NHS FoundationTrust.

The Urgent Care Team consists of specialist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists andis proactive in providing a holistic early intervention service, working within the multi-disciplinary team at the front door of the hospital. You will offer a person-centred approach to independence and well-being and will ensure that our patients achieve their rehabilitation goals and are safely discharged in a timely manner with appropriate onward referrals.

Applicants should have an interest in working with an adult client group who present with a variety of conditions, and especially in assessing and treating elderly and frail patients with multiple co-morbidities and complex needs.

Main duties of the job

You will be providing a key role in ensuring that patient flow is maintained and will provide a seamless service with our D2A (discharge to assess) service.

You will work with both the In-Patient Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Teams, the Acute Frailty Team as well as our D2A team (based in the community)

You will supervise students and junior members of staff where necessary, and on occasions deputise for the Band 7 team lead.

You will work closely with Occupational Therapy colleagues in the team and will complete some basic OT competencies to enable holistic assessments if lone working. For this role you will be HCPC registered, hold a degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy and show evidence of post-graduate NHS experience, having completed a variety of rotations at Band 5 level including musculo-skeletal out-patients/orthopaedics, medical/surgical/ITU, neurology.

The successful applicant will have excellent team working skills and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and patients, as well as being able to work alone.

Flexibility of working times and practice is essential which will include 7 day working, evening and weekend working.

Participation in the Respiratory on call rota is necessary as part of this post.
