Job summary

This role is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices who are currently studying for NVQ Level 2/3, apprentices should note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band) until they have completed their apprenticeship.

An exciting opportuniuty has arisen for a highly motivated enthusiastic individual to join a busy well established paediatric diabetes team based at Barnsley Hospital

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the Paediatric Diabetes Team by providing a high standard of administrative assistance. They should have significant clerical experience and will be expected to organise and book clinic patient appointments, collect and input data to relevant diabetes databases and platforms, minute meetings and organise the teams day to day activities as well as develop proformas and templates relevant to the diabetes team.

Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to liase with children, young people and their families and other multi professionals. They must also have excellent organisational skills and be able to prioritise their workload

It would be an advantage if applicants have experience of managing databases and Microsoft packages including Excel/ Word and Outlook . An ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and multi task is also essential

Main duties of the job

To collect, collate and report data by developing proforma, templates and other documentation in Microsoft Office Packages to meet the requirements of the Childrens Diabetes Nurse Specialists

To receive and make telephone calls on behalf of the childrens diabetes nurse specialists when they are unavailable around the full range of their duties and to ensure message are passed on in an accurate timely manner.

To become familiar with the trusts Careflow/ Medeviewer system to ensure the tracking of patients to ensure their pathway through the system is smooth, efficient which will include the co -ordination of booking appointments.

Collect and input data, carry out data analysis for the purposes of the National Paediatric Diabetes Audit and Best Practice Tariff

To undertake general offices duties this includes, word processing, filing, scanning and photocopying.

To provide and or receive complex and sensitive information.

To ensure that all procedures relating to own workload are comprehensively documented and any amendments are updated in a timely manner.

To prioritise own workload and organise school meetings and educational sessions as advised by the Childrens Diabetes Nurse Specialists.

To work with organisational and professional policies operating on own inititive but seeking advice from line manager as necessary.

To use keyboard skills to input data into databases manipulate data into required formats, using a range of IM&T tools and techniques.
