Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual, who can deliver high quality patient care within our Breast Team to cover long term sickness. The post will be initially fixed for 6 months.

Due to the post being fixed term for 6 months we are advertising externally for increased interest but this would be open to a secondment if you had the support of your manager.

At the Breast Unit, we provide breast screening, breast clinics, and a range of healthcare support including breast surgery and reconstruction. We are small hard-working team who pride ourselves on developing our service and our staff in order for them to feel valued for their contributions to the team.

Previous experience working within a Breast Unit would be desirable but full training will be given to the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be required to assist in overseeing the running of the department and they will be required to be a part of the Nurse Led clinics that they run within the unit. These consist of wound clinics, drainage of seromas and accessing chemo care to facilitate the safe administration of zoladex. A supervised competency package and training will be completed.

Other responsibilities are

To act as Nurse in charge when allocated, with duties commiserate of that position.

Support patient throughout their pathway in the Breast Unit providing appropriate information as required,

To assist and work as part of a team to ensure that all safety checks have been completed and documented and that clinics rooms are stocked and cleaned prior to clinics starting and throughout the day.

Setting up & assisting with Breast Biopsies

Ensure all appropriate paperwork/LocSSIPS, e outcomes are completed during and following consultations

Clinical Observations where required.
