The post holder
will work as an integral part of the Tissue Viability Team, and will provide a
comprehensive, evidence based Tissue Viability Service for both patients and
health care professionals in Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (BHNFT).
The post holder
will have specialist knowledge of tissue viability. They will be expected to
work autonomously at a level appropriate to clinical competence and within the
scope of professional practice. This is an operational role and they will be
responsible for ensuring that the care given to patients both for prevention of
pressure ulcers and the treatment of wounds, meets the individual needs of
patients in addition to meeting national standards, research based best
practice and locally agreed standards.
The
post holder will work under the direction of the Senior Tissue Viability
Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide clinical advice and support for staff and
make a specialist contribution to education and training of all disciplines in
tissue viability. They will support the Senior Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse
Specialist in continually developing and evaluating this relatively new
service.
Main duties of the job
A primary purpose of the role will be to directly work within the
clinical teams to provide effective patient care with respect to pressure ulcer
prevention and management. This will include monitoring standards of care and
record keeping through the use of audits as well as contributing to audits and
research in respect of wound management.
The post holder will be expected to develop professional links with both
internal and outside agencies, including the Safeguarding Team, Community
Tissue Viability Teams and District / Community Nurses, to ensure continuity of
care. They will also be expected to establish good working relationships with
all grades of staff and provide expert clinical support throughout the Trust.
