2067 - Lead Nurse

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who can inspire and motivate an evolving team and facilitate the day to day running of the unit.

We undertake diagnostic procedures for inpatients and outpatients, including the bowel screening programme and we offer an established capsule endoscopy service.

The successful candidate will be expected to have extensive knowledge of endoscopy with the confidence and drive to ensure that the endoscopy team deliver high quality and compassionate care with a focus on patient experience and safety.

We are proud that we are a JAG accredited endoscopy department and the lead nurse will work closely with the MDT to ensure that this status is maintained.

The role is 6 months and will be fixed term due to the transfer of the current lead nurse to support winter pressures and will be needed to start mid-November.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the management of Endoscopy services, ensuring that the highest standards of quality care are delivered to both patients and their families. This will be achieved by:-

Providing effective leadership, expertise, advice & support to the department & ensure the provision of the highest quality care to patients and their families.

Ensuring the safe, effective and efficient overall management of the department within allocated resources and in accordance with Trust wide Policies and Procedures.

Being a visible, accessible and assertive figure, providing professional and clinical leadership to all grades of staff and the Multidisciplinary team.

Co-ordinating the efficient running of the department, monitoring resources, ensuring the delivery and quality of clinical and administrative support.

Being accountable for the department and performance management of all members of the Registered and Non-Registered nursing teams to ensure service delivery and to actively promote and encourage a positive approach.

To work closely with Matron and Service Manager to help coordinate and manage clerical systems and staff.

To take a lead role in delivering and supporting the emerging modernisation agenda delivering departmental and corporate objectives.
