An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated nurse to join the Lung Cancer Nursing Team. The Lung Cancer Nurses role is to support the Macmillan Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist in the provision of a comprehensive service that will include involvement in investigation, treatment and follow up of patients with lung cancer providing continuity and quality care. The Lung Cancer Sister will also provide support and guidance to patients being screened through the National Lung Health Check Programme. The successful candidate will work closely with respiratory, oncology and thoracic surgery teams. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills and enjoy working in a fast paced, sometimes challenging environment.

Main duties of the job
The Lung Cancer Sister will help to provide a comprehensive, quality service that will include involvement in the investigation, treatment and follow up of patients with a suspected or confirmed lung cancer in either an inpatient or outpatient setting. They will utilise and develop their own skills and knowledge to support the Macmillan Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist. They will be a core member of the Lung MDT. The Lung Cancer Nurse will support the Lung Health Check Programme. They will be expected to support patients in respiratory and oncology clinics and review lung cancer patients in the inpatient setting
