We are wanting to employ a kind
and empathic, qualified complimentary therapist with a wide range of practical
and personable skills including various forms of complimentary treatments, great
communication skills, a positive can do attitude, and a team player.
This is an AFC 15 hrs per week
over 2 or 3 days/ permanent post that is a part of BHNFTs Cancer Services but
will sit in Barnsley Town Centre at The Well -Cancer Information and Support
Centre, Queens Court.
This post holder will have
some responsibilities to ensure the service runs well and the Team Leader is
supported to ensure The Well remains a success at all times. The service
supports a range of cancer patients across all tumour groups at various stages
from diagnosis onwards.
This is a specialist
department that provides symptom management and therapeutic wellbeing and an
excellent service to the residents of Barnsley who are diagnosed with cancer in
the last year.
We conduct approximately 3,600
-to- 4,000 individual patient treatments every single year! As well as Yoga for
cancer patients, coffee groups, disease specific groups, Support training,
coping after cancer, wellbeing events and more!
Main duties of the job
The purpose of the role
is to provide complimentary therapy to the patients of BNFHT in the last year
if diagnosed with cancer/ or symptomatic relief of some metastatic disease, as
long as the patient is able to get into Barnsley town.
The post holder will
maintain a high standard of therapeutic cares to help support cancer patients
in a safe and governed way.
The post holder will
give approx. 12 patient treatments per week.
The candidate will have
experience already of working with cancer patients.
The candidate will be
able to maintain a positive attitude and encourage the additional staff
(whether sessional or NHS) to work in a conducive manner.
This postholder will
work safely at all times adhere to policies and procedures outlined by the
Trust
They will ensure staff
and volunteers provide an excellent service and who feel supported and part of
the bigger team in Cancer Services.
The postholder is an
essential part of the cancer patents treatment pathway.
