An exciting
opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our SEQOHS
accredited service based at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
As a staff counsellor you will provide
high quality assessment and short-term individual counselling within specified
occupational settings within the Trust, and with external agencies with whom we
have contractual arrangements.
You will support the provision of
supportive group therapy services as required and post trauma support (e.g.
after major incidences and for individuals who have experienced a critical
incident in the workplace).
You will work autonomously within
professional guidelines, national and Trust policies and procedures and undertake
and manage own caseload.
Main duties of the job
The counsellor will autonomously manage
their own caseload including assessment, treatment and discharge of clients
within Trust guidelines.
They will implement a range of
person-centred counselling interventions for individuals
They will provide face-to-face initial
assessments of clients with multiple and complex problems and refer to
appropriate specialist services if necessary. As part of the on-going
assessments of clients to identify, monitor and appropriately deal with clients
at risk.
They will provide specialist advice to
other health professionals, managers, staff and clients within the bounds of
client confidentiality.
The counsellor will utilise theory,
evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in
individual work and with colleagues. Where appropriate will engage in joint
working with other health professionals, e.g. RMN, GPs and OH Specialist
Practitioners
They will provide professional advice to
other disciplines/agencies promoting safe competent quality care consistent
with established professional standards.
The counsellor will work as part of the
mental health team and wider multi-disciplinary team within Occupational
Health, contributing to the development of the service.
