Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent organisational and communication skills has arisen within the CBU2 waiting list management team. The post will cover the Oral Maxillio Facial Surgery (OMFS) patients waiting lists but will be expected to cross cover/move to other depts when necessary.

The role of the department is to ensure the Elective Inpatient; Day Case and Minor Operations (MOS) Waiting Lists are monitored and managed efficiently and in accordance with the Trust Access Policy to meet their activity targets.

It is based within the Hospital site and its primary purpose is to ensure that patients undergoing elective inpatient, day case and Minor surgery are able to negotiate and agree a suitable date for their surgery.

The post is full time (37.5 hours) and is to be worked over 5 days (8:00-16:00 and one day 9:00-17:00 to cover the departments late rota).

The interview date for this role will be Monday 20th January 2025.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the role is to work as part of the waiting list team to ensure the Inpatient, Day case and Minor Operations (MOS) Waiting List is monitored and managed efficiently and in accordance with the Trust Access Policy

Patients will be prioritised in clinical urgency and chronological order and booked to theatre lists/MOS lists, ensuring appropriate mix of patients to maximise utilisation of slots and liaising with Consultants, anaesthetists, pre-assessment staff, theatres and ward/Departmental staff as appropriate.

You will be required to liaise with the pre-assessment admin staff to arrange appointments and pre-operative assessments to ensure that only fit patients are placed on the active waiting list.

Answering telephone calls from patients, taking messages and communicating to relevant staff / colleaugues.
