Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent organisational and communication skills has arisen within the CBU2 waiting list management team.
The role of the department is to ensure the Elective Inpatient and Day Case Waiting Lists are monitored and managed efficiently and in accordance with the Trust Access Policy to meet their activity targets.
It is based within the Pre-Operative Assessment Unit and its primary purpose is to ensure that patients undergoing elective inpatient and day case surgery are able to negotiate and agree a suitable date for their surgery.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of the role is to work as part of the waiting list team to ensure the Inpatient Waiting List is monitored and managed efficiently and in accordance with the Trust Access Policy
Patients will be prioritised in clinical urgency and chronological order and booked to theatre lists, ensuring appropriate mix of patients to maximise utilisation of theatre slots, and liaising with Consultants, anaesthetists, pre-assessment staff, theatres and ward staff as appropriate.
You will be required to liaise with the pre-assessment admin staff to arrange appointments, pre-operative assessments to ensure that only fit patients are placed on the active waiting list.
Answering telephone calls form patients, taking messages and communicating to relevanct staff / colleaugues.
