The banding of this role is subject to job description evaluation.

Working as part of the busy Outpatient Phlebotomy Department team which is based at B.D.G.H and the Community Diagnostic Centre in Barnsley, you will obtain venous blood samples from adult patients. The post holder will have good knowledge and experience in venepuncture.

A good knowledge of Health & Safety, Infection Control & Confidentiality are essential within this role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have previous experience in venepuncture

The post holder will work within SOPs to take blood in appropriate tubes and in the correct order, ensuring all samples are correctly labelled

Conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times

Communicate clearly with patients using sensitivity and empathy

Paying close attention to detail, checking patient details and any pre-test requirements

Ensure the wellbeing of the patient at all times

Perform general housekeeping duties to ensure a safe working environment

Use the Trusts Order Comms IT system to receive and print request forms

Liaise with referring locations, taking enquires from other departments
