Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a qualified nurse with an interest in the field of ophthalmology who is keen to develop into specialist practice role.

Join our dynamic and ambitious multidisciplinary team which includes consultants, speciality doctors, orthoptists, ophthalmic nurses, ophthalmic technicians and ophthalmic health care assistants. Benefits include excellent training opportunities leading to specialist roles in areas such as glaucoma, medical retina, pre-assessment and Emergency Triage.

Ophthalmic qualification desirable but training and support given to candidate to do in post.

This role is a 12 months fixed term / secondment opportunity.

Main duties of the job

Function as a professional role model for the Nursing team, demonstrating clinical and managerial skill.

Ensure staff work within current polices and guidelines to meet the requirements of statutory bodies and the Trust.

Key roles include history taking, pre assessments for cataract surgery, biometry, emergency triage, and glaucoma.

Participate in the training and development needs of staff to ensure the team is equipped to fulfil the needs of the service and that individuals have equitable access to development opportunities

Demonstrate a high commitment to professional and personal development to ensure that professional competencies are maintained and developed to continue to meet the needs of the service. Maintainingan up-to-date Personal Development Plan.
