0774 - Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist

This is a training role and the successful candidateshould note that the salary would be Agenda for Change Annex 21 trainee rate (75%max of band) until they have completed the training within 1 year of starting.

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has this exciting opportunity for a trainee Technologist to be involved in the Nuclear Medicine services provided across the Trust. The post holder will work with others to provide a seamless service for patients.

The successful candidate will attend university to attain a post graduate diploma in nuclear medicine imaging. The post holder will work full time in the department contributing to the teams daily work, whilst gaining valuable experience.

The department has its own Radiopharmacy. The successful candidate will be given training in manufacturing once they successfully complete the post graduate diploma.

Technologists should be registered on the voluntary RCT and radiographers should be registered with the HCPC

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills and have experience in working in medical imaging. They will have good patient care skills and have experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams.

The post holder will work together with technologists to ensure there is an effective delivery of the service whilst gaining valuable clinical experience in nuclear medicine. They will be expected to apply knowledge gained at university to their work in the department where they will learn to perform nuclear medicine studies along with all other aspects of running and developing a nuclear medicine department.

The successful applicant will be expected to learn all aspects of nuclear medicine imaging and work to current protocols and procedures. They will develop skills in scanning, injecting, dispensing doses, working with unsealed radioactive sources, performing quality control procedures and working in the radiopharmacy.
