Job summary
An exciting opportunity to lead a diverse, dynamic and forward-thinking pharmacy team has arisen to be our Chief Pharmacist
As the Chief Pharmacist you will play a pivotal role within the senior clinical management team being responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of pharmacy services and optimisation of medicines across the organisation.
The post will report directly to the Medical Director and provide visibility and leadership for pharmacy services and medicines optimisation together with the pharmacy leads, across the organisation. Providing direct line management of the Pharmacy leads team, inspiring and motivating the pharmacy teams to have the skills, authority and autonomy they need to deliver outstanding Pharmacy services. As well as developing and maintaining safe and evidence-based medicines management practices which comply with appropriate regulatory bodies including clinical, risk, quality and financial parameters.
You must be able to lead by example, motivate and empower teams to ensure consistently high standards, with a focus on compassionate and inclusive leadership. As a role model and champion for Clinical Pharmacy, the post holder will maintain and lead a profile within Pharmacy, the Trust and into our wider system partners.

Main duties of the job
Responsibility for the planning and provision of safe and effective pharmacy services to the Trust (and customers). This includes:
i. Direction and professional leadership.
ii. Strategy and service development.
iii. Clinical governance and compliance with legislation and professional requirements.
iv. Operational, financial and staff management.
Organisational responsibility for Medicines Optimisation.
i. Development of overall organisational strategy for medicines optimization
ii. Trust wide responsibility for organising, monitoring and reporting on appropriate arrangements to manage the clinical, operational and financial risks associated with the use of medicines.
To provide expert advice to the Trust on all aspects of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation
To be responsible for and lead all Pharmacy involvement in research, audit and development activities, including the management of all pharmaceutical aspects of clinical trials undertaken within the Trust.
To discharge specific duties as specified in legislation, professional requirements and national guidance, including:
Acting as the 'Responsible Person' under the terms of the Trust's Pharmaceutical Wholesale Dealers Licence as required by section 8 of the Medicines Act 1968 (as amended) and as required in the foreseeable future.
To represent the Trust in all aspects of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation forums at Place, System, Region and National levels.
