Job summary

We are looking for dedicated & experienced radiographers with proven team leadership & communication skills, to be responsible for the operational management of CT & MRI services ensuring optimum use of staffing and equipment resources throughout the department in conjunction with the team of Modality Leads.

You will be joining our friendly, flexible team to provide a high quality, responsive diagnostic service delivering excellent patient care in line with the Trust core values. You will be expected to maintain high clinical standards and share this practice with junior staff and students.

You must have excellent communication and organisational skills, a commitment to CPD and a practical knowledge of radiation protection, legislation and health and safety requirements and extensive experience in cross-sectional imaging.

This is a key leadership role and the successful candidate will be a role model for demonstrating our Trusts values through their leadership behaviours, working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and be committed to providing high quality patient care.

You will possess DCR (R) or BSc Radiography with current HCPC registration.

We actively encourage Post Graduate study and role extension. We currently have 16 radiographers who undertake Advanced Practice and this will continue to develop.

We operate a 7 day service covered by a shift system, which includes night cover. Our shift patterns accommodate flexible working arrangements.

Main duties of the job

To supervise all radiographic procedures, patient care and staff movement within the work area.

To develop any specialised areas of interest in imaging techniques

To contribute to the service improvement and business planning processes

To be responsible for the efficient deployment of resources, enabling the patient to receive a safe accurate and timely examination.

To take part in both the extended working day and emergency duty rota's.

To be responsible for the operational management of both the CT and MRI cross sectional imaging service ensuring the efficient use of resources whilst maintaining a high standard of competency and patient care.

To maximize efficiency and productivity within the designated work area, working constructively with members of the team to maximise the efficient use of equipment, facilities and staffing resources.

To further develop the effectiveness and diversity of the service, including expansion of the on-call service, in liaison with consultant medical staff and other health care professionals.

As MR safety advisor be responsible for implementing and maintaining all safety procedures and operating instructions for staff, patients and external agencies (fire brigade) in all aspects of MR safety.
