Job summary

Barnsley Hospital NHS FT has a wonderful opportunity to recruit a new member of staff to this friendly, high quality and busy department.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, efficient and motivated Specialist Cardio-respiratory Physiologist to work in our busy Cardio-respiratory Department. Candidates must have experience as a Clinical Physiologist and be committed to service improvement. It is essential that the candidates work well in a team, are committed to providing a high quality efficient and effective service, can encourage and help develop staff, set high standards and lead by example. Candidates should be registered with the AHCS. Competency in electrocardiography, ambulatory ECG, exercise tolerance testing and angiography is essential. Competency in one or both of the following is essential for Band 6, 1) Pacing implantation and follow-up, 2) Echocardiography. Respiratory function testing is desirable but training will be provided if candidates are not competent in this or other areas.

Ideally, we are looking to recruit 1 WTE Band 6, Specialist Cardio-respiratory Physiologist but will consider applications from qualified Physiologists at Band 5 level. Physiologists at Band 5 level will progress to Band 6 on completion of further training.

Main duties of the job

You will be working within a fast-paced environment with a strong and friendly team, providing a variety of basic and complex investigations to the whole of Barnsley and beyond, whilst maintaining excellent standards of service and care.

You will provide a specialist clinical technical service that includes: routine ECG, exercise tolerance testing, ambulatory ECG analysis, echocardiography, angiography, pacing implantation and follow-up, spirometry, pulsoximetry, full lung function testing and cardio-pulmonary exercise testing.

Generating, analysing and assessing test results against acceptability criteria.

Working within agreed professional policies and protocols/procedures with and without direct supervision as appropriate.
