Job summary

We are looking for 3 ODPs/Anaesthetic practitioners who have the vision to provide care for patients

across main theatres and who possesses a strong commitment to improving patient safety and

quality of care.

Our mission is to deliver exceptional care to patients treated in our operating theatres and to do

that, we need exceptional people.

The successful post holders will complement the established unit/team in delivering high quality care that is rapidly adapting to meet the needs of the patient and the development of the unit. Experience of each specialty is not essential as a training package is available and full support will be given to newly qualified applicants.

We are constantly looking at new innovative practices and equipment to improve and maintain a high standard of patient care.

In April our brand new ICU is opening , which is based alongside our PACU and Theatres. This will enable all our staff to be part of an exciting multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to further your career in anaesthetics moving forward, as opportunities are always available to attend courses/training to continue your professional development. Our Odps very often work alongside the ICU team transferring emergency patients from theatre and resus in A & E to the unit.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to work all out of hours shifts, these include nights, afters and

weekends.

This is a permanent post in Main Theatres. The department operates 24/7 days a year including bank holidays.

We are looking for a dedicated, flexible and well-motivated Operating Department Practitioner with a keen interest in working in the theatre department. We invite you to join our team and to play an active role in the development of the unit.

You will be expected to attend the resuscitation unit in A & E and be part of the hospital arrest team.

You will work in a clinical enviroment of 8 main theatres and 1 emergency obstetric theatre.

The post holder will use highly developed physical and mental skills when scrubbed assisting the surgeon. The post holder will require high levels of hand/eye coordination which are essential for the safe practice of surgical procedures

Candidates must have good organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to develop their own professional knowledge.
