Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 6 registered nurse to work within our Gastroenterology Ward at Barnsley Hospital on a 12-month secondment.

We currently have a vacancy for a Sister/Charge Nurse to join the Gastroenterology Ward which will include deputising for the Lead Nurse in the day to day management and delivery of nursing care, whilst incorporating the opportunity to develop further your management and leadership skills.

Our team is dedicated and committed to providing and maintaining excellent standards of care to patients with varying conditions both within the Gastroenterology and General Medicine speciality. We are looking for someone who will uphold and maintain our standards whilst supporting junior members of the team to do the same.

You must have the ability to work under pressure whilst being flexible and adaptable. You must also be able to demonstrate proven leadership and team player skills and have a commitment to promote the development of our service.

Gastroenterology experience is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Opportunities within the 12-month secondment will include: change management, sickness management, appraisals, roster management, deputising for the Lead Nurse, Root Cause Analysis and dealing with complaints to name a few. Further training will be available for continued professional development such as the Passport to Management Programme, RCN Leadership Course, Leading an Empowered Organisation Course, etc.
