Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a 5 month Band 6 secondment has become available within the Gastroenterology team on Ward 31.
The Gastroenterology ward is a 15 bedded ward looking after a variety of patients with conditions such as: UGI bleeds, liver disease, eating disorders, etc. The applicant does not require prior Gastroenterology experience to apply, although this is desirable.
We are looking for a strong leader who can support and lead with compassion at the forefront of their practice. The applicant will work clinically alongside the Gastroenterology team, leading by example and following best practice to help deliver the best standards of care to our patients. The role will involve exposure to management tasks and deputising for the Lead Nurse in their absence. Management tasks will involve: roster management, sickness management, clinical governance (incident report investigations, RCAs, AARs, learning), supporting staff development (including management of capability) and quality improvement initiatives.
The secondment is an ideal opportunity for continued professional development and progression and will allow the candidate access to additional training, for example leadership courses.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will provide senior leadership within the Gastroenterology team.
They will:
* Work clinically and support junior members of staff.
* Deputise in the Lead Nurse's absence.
* Be involved in management tasks such as: rostering, sickness management, investigating incident reports, root cause analysis, etc.
* Be involved in improving the service provided through quality improvement initiatives.
* Carry out continual professional development to improve personally as well as supporting others with professional development, including students.
