Job summary

An opportunity for a Band 7 Lead Nurse position has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse with Band 6 experience or Band 7 experience to lead and manage Ward 20. The ward is a 28 bedded Acute Stoke Unit and Care of the Elderly ward which has a fully established dedicated team.

The successful candidate needs to be organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic. They need to have excellent communication and time management skills. Applicants need to be dynamic and innovative with good knowledge of caring for medical patients and the ability to drive forward a team of staff with varying levels of experience, knowledge and skills. They will need to be enthusiastic about patient care and have a compassionate leadership style that will support the health and wellbeing of their staff and patients. They need to have good understanding of clinical governance and audits, experience of working within the multi-disciplinary team and a need to continually improve quality and patient satisfaction. They also need to be able to delegate tasks effectively to enable them to support the ward clinically as well as ensuring that management responsibilities are completed.

Main duties of the job

To provide effective leadership, expertise, advice and support to the ward and ensure the provision of high-quality care to patients and their families.

To ensure the safe, effective and efficient overall management of the ward within the allocated resources and budget, in collaboration with the matron, and in accordance with trust policies and procedures.

To consistently maintain and improve patient care and experience.

24 hour continuing responsibility for maintaining a safe environment.

To act as ward manager with responsibility for determining how objectives set for the service delivery of the ward will be best achieved and drive continuous improvement.

Demonstrate a professional approach to work in accordance with the leadership behaviours agreed for the trust, the NMC code of professional conduct and the trust values.

Foster an environment that is supportive, inclusive and conducive to learning.

Ensure ward compliance with all audits, policies and trust guidance.
