An
exciting opportunity has arisen to join and expand further our dynamic and
well-respected Acute Medicine team here at Barnsley Hospital.
The
successful applicant(s) will join a team of ten consultants. Each member of the
consultant team demonstrates clinical excellence, and each brings additional
skills to the team, including research, teaching, education and management.
Most importantly, the team work collaboratively together.
Main duties of the job
This is a substantive post and will support the expansion of services
to meet activity and service specification demands as we move towards a 12
hour / 7-day AIM cover model and includes daytime work on the AMU, Short stay Unit (SSU) and Medical SDEC
(Same day emergency care).
This is an
exciting opportunity to join one of the leading AMUs in the region offering
exceptional support to pursue professional activities / sub specialty
interests.
Any
candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be
considered for the posts; if such a person is appointed modification of the
job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in
consultation with consultant colleagues.

The
current staffing is 10 Consultants 2 SAS doctors, 1 ST4-7, a mixture of
CT3-6, CT1/GP VTS/F2 or F1 doctors and 6 full-time Physician Associates.
The
hospital is an associate teaching hospital of the University of Sheffield and
the Emergency Department is actively involved in undergraduate medical
education. Candidates must be on the Specialist Register or within six months
of eligibility for entry.
