Job summary
The Department of Neurosciences is looking to recruit a Skull Base fellow to start in September 2024. This neurosurgical skull base fellowship is a one year training program designed to prepare individuals for successful careers in cranial neurosurgery. This fellowship is fully approved by the Royal College of Surgeons and is designed between two busy skull base and pituitary surgery units at Queen's Hospital Romford and Royal London Hospital. Both Skull Base and Pituitary surgery units offer a high-volume tertiary clinical experience covering all aspects of advanced skull base and pituitary surgery. This fellowship is aimed at senior trainees or post CCT neurosurgeons seeking to gain further experience in microsurgical and endoscopic complex skull base surgery. Applicants must have full GMC registration.
Main duties of the job
Out Trust is working in collaboration with Barts Health NHS Trust which will provide a fantastic opportunity for multi-disciplinary cross site working for the ideal candidate. We are also investing significantly in our Neuroscience services and have recently purchased the BrainLab cranial and spinal systems plus intra-operative live CT scanning in the operating theatre. BHRUT is one of the largest Associate Teaching Hospitals, providing acute care for over 700,000 people from across 2 main sites - Queen's and King George Hospitals, as well as peripheral sites at Barking, Dagenham and Brentwood. We have a strong commitment to teaching trainees and developing the service's potential as a hub for complex surgeries. We are a major Neuroscience Centre and are undergoing significant further development in conjunction with the NEL elective hub.
About us
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a post offering clinical experience in Cardiology. This post is suitable for post foundation stage doctors or junior doctor with some previous experience in Cardiology planning to pursue a career in Cardiology. This is a substantive post.
BHRUT is one of the largest acute trusts in the UK, providing acute care for over 700,000 people. The successful applicant will work at Queens and King George Hospitals providing and taking part in a range of services including supporting Cardiology outpatient clinics, Inpatient reviews and the post holder will have ward commitments.
The post will be based at King George Hospital but will also support patients on both sites and will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialists in Cardiology. This post will give an excellent opportunity to gain experience in Cardiology with attendance encouraged at departmental and regional Academic meetings.
There is no on call commitment allocated to this post.
GMC registration and MBBS are essential. MRCP is desirable but not essential. Some previous experience Cardiology is highly desirable.
