Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacist to lead and develop Pharmacy Operational Services at Barking, Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust.

You will work with Head Pharmacist for Clinical Services and Head Pharmacist for Governance to develop Pharmacy services at BHRUT.

You will lead the Dispensary services at three sites as well as the stores and procurement team. Your portfolio will include Clinical Trials, specialised commissioning and lead on all operational matters from sites that BHRUT provide services from. You will responsible for managing the Pharmacy budget to ensure that we meet our financial envelope.

You will develop and manage KPI's and develop a strategy to improve KPIs and develop a dashboard to communicate results.

We are seeking an experienced pharmacist with senior pharmacy management experience and service delivery experience within a Hospital Pharmacy across multiple sites with previous experience of leading and developing services and staff.

Main duties of the job

To provide expert professional and managerial resource to staff in Pharmacy

Responsible for the development of an open and engaging culture for staff, accelerating inclusivity / allyship and promoting a patient-centred and culturally sensitive approach to the delivery of patient care.

To role model and promote inclusion at every level, ensuring equity, helping all staff to grow, and ensuring diversity is positively valued and developed across Pharmacy and wider clinical group / Site.

Support the Chief Pharmacist in the achievement of goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) and put in place mechanisms to audit and evaluate strategy and operational performance.

To provide financial stability to the directorate and wider Clinical Group through effective deployment of staff and resources and monitor and deliver key objectives within the Pharmacy budget.

To deputise for the Chief Pharmacist as required.

To participate and develop improvement plans for workforce and other areas within Pharmacy under the remit of quality, safety and efficiency.

To approve rosters in line with Trust guidance as required to achieve appropriate staffing and skill mix.

To provide operational support to staff within areas of responsibility and ensure visible leadership.

To monitor and provide assurance to the Chief Pharmacist for quality and performance areas such as, workforce staff surveys, finance, Incident rates, learning and other KPIs as required.

About us

We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
