Job summary

The Division of Surgery at BHRUT, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented, highly motivated, proactive team player to join the surgical admin and clerical team as a second Medical Staffing Co-ordinator to join the General Surgery Department. The ideal candidate would have excellent communication skills, be able to work under pressure and be organised and have good time management skills. The candidate should have an ability to be able to negotiate with colleagues/staff and consultants and able to work with colleagues of all grades.Our Medical Staffing Co-ordinators are vital to ensuring there is adequate cover for annual, study and sick leave for all medical staff within the General Surgery department. To provide efficient administrative support to the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead, Specialty Manager and Service Manager in managing the medical staffing rotas. The role of the Medical Staffing Co-ordinator is to provide support to the Medical Workforce to ensure staffing rotas for General, Vascular, Colorectal, UGI and Breast and Emergency teams. Ensuring appropriate cover is arranged for medical staff leave by arranging internal cover which is safe and effective. Key part of the role is the booking of locum doctors via in house bank where appropriate authorisation is received. The post holder will co-ordinate the induction and training of new and temporary staff.

Main duties of the job

o To act as medical staffing coordinator for the provision of cover for annual, study and sick leave for medical staff within the allocated serviceso Act as the main point of contact for medical rostering for junior doctors and other key stakeholders.o To provide administrative support to the General Manager, Service Manager, Clinical Care Group Director, Clinical Director and Speciality Leads in managing medical staffing.o To provide accurate and timely information related to medical staff management including compliance with New Deal requirements, appraisals and monitoring leave.o To work closely with Clinical Director and General Manager developing processes to support junior doctors on all issues relating to their employment within BHRUT.o To manage and co-ordinate annual and study leave ensuring that medical locum usage is minimised, but where required this is anticipated and covered. This will also include ensuring that the rotas are published and distributed in a timely manner and where changes are required, these are effectively communicated.o As the organisation evolves, there may arise a need to adjust the tasks and /or the responsibilities of the postholder. This will be done in consultation with the post holder with the aim of mutually agreeing to any reasonable changes.
