Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-motivated and reliable person to join our friendly team in the Microbiology department at BHR University Hospitals Trust. The department is based on two sites: Queen's Hospital (QH) in Romford and King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes. We are looking for experienced Biomedical Scientist with primarily. Serology/Molecular experience. The post holder will be required to work in all areas of the laboratory on a rotational basis including the other site (QH or KGH), therefore bacteriology knowledge and experience will be beneficial.
You should have a degree in Biomedical Science and hold HCPC registration. You must have also undertaken successful completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio or have equivalent experience if your first HCPC registration was prior to this qualification being available. You will be computer literate, have the ability to follow procedures, have good written/verbal communication skills and an enthusiasm for learning. You must bring along evidence of participation in CPD. The post holder will receive formal training within the Trust as well as within the Microbiology Department. Performance will be assessed regularly by an appraisal system and laboratory-based competence assessment.
Main duties of the job
To perform technical work as required in all sections of the laboratory on a rotational basis under the supervision of senior BMS staff.

The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals; anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
