An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Midwifery Team at BHRUT as the Midwife for Multi-Ethnic Empowerment (BAME).
We are looking to recruit a midwife for a midwife, who is enthusiastic, motivated, clinically astute.
You will be responsible for ensuring that Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and other marginalised women are actively encouraged, facilitated and empowered to become actively involved in the improvement of local maternity services, and supported to co-design and coproduce improvements and services, to ensure that local maternity services fulfils their and their family's needs.
Main duties of the job
- Demonstrate knowledge of Equality Act and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the context of national governance policies and procedures.
- Work with the senior midwifery team to assist in the implementation and operationalization of the Maternity Transformation 'Better Births' agenda specifically focused on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and marginalised women.
- To work alongside hospital and community team and senior midwifery team to review midwifery practice and provide an expert opinion in maternity care, particularly focused on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and marginalised women.
- To use key performance indicators to demonstrate on-going added value of the role of Midwife for Multi-Ethnic Empowerment and monitoring outcomes for staff and women.
- Be involved in continuous monitoring and maintaining quality standards of clinical practice and care through a variety of ways; for example audit.
- 1 clinical shift per week caseloading women with no or limited English language, maintaining a clinical commitment of one day a week.
- Facilitate one day parent education training weekly for women with limited English language with support of interpreters.
- Line manage the Maternity patient experience assistant and any other member.
- Report writing in line with patient experiences requirements.
- Deputise in absence of line manager.
- Support as part of clinical escalation.

The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals; anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
