Job summary

The Surgical Clinical Care Group is looking to recruit a dedicated and highly skilled Band 7 Urology Nurse specialist to support our cancer pathway.

You would be an experienced band 6/7 acting within your professional boundaries and willing to develop your skills.

As a Urology CNS you will play a vital role in delivering specialised nursing care to patients with Urology Cancer. Your expertise will contribute to the high quality care and positive patient experience. You would have excellent communications skills both verbally and in writing. You would be proactive in ensuring that your clinical expertise is up to date to contribute as a role model to the service.

The post holder will be a member of the Trust's Urology team and undertake the role of the CNS supporting and facilitating the patients journey.

You would be working in a collaborative manner, providing clear decision making skills in consultation with medical and nursing staff. You will ensure that you protect and promote patient safety at all times.

You would effectively liaise with multidisiplinary teams and services maintaining a good rapport to ensure excellent working relationships are maintained with other departments. Demonstrate personal strength and effectiveness with professional behavior under stressful and difficult situations.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as an integral member of the Multidisciplinary Team within Barking Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust. The post holder will acknowledge and provide the overall responsibility for the provision of specialist nursing advice and support to patients and families, In-patient and out-patient, throughout their care pathway.

We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London - more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

We're pleased to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals; anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
