We have an exciting opportunity in Geriatric Division care of the elderly wards at Queens site at BHRUT Hospitals. We are looking to recruit a registered nurse as a clinical Band 6 to join our existing highly motivated team on at the Frailty unit on the Queens Site which is an acute ED setting for frail and elderly patients with frailty score of 6 and above.
Care of the Elderly is currently going through a process of change to ensure we meet the on-going needs of our elderly patients and to provide an excellent standard of care every time and every day. This is an ideal opportunity for you to bring your experiences, leadership skills and visions to help us to deliver these changes.
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with post experience working in elderly care and has a passion for delivering high quality care, training to our staff, in partnership with patients and their relatives, putting the patients at the centre of our PRIDE values and promoting good patient experience. The nurse will be working in a busy Frailty ED which operates 24/7 and can work well under pressure. The nurse will be expected to and work alongside the geriatrician in ED to assess patients identified by the ED Acute Frailty Mobile Rafting Team who can be transferred to QFU at any stage of their admission.
The nurse will have to demonstrate good and sound leadership skills to provide professional leadership, support, and advice to team within the Frailty unit.
Main duties of the job
The Sister/Charge Nurse will actively participate and contribute to the management of the clinical area, liaising with the nurse in charge in A&E to ensure timely patient flow.
They will act as a mentor, teaching and supervising junior staff and colleagues, including student nurses, healthcare support workers, medical staff and AHPs. The sister/charge nurse will provide clinical expertise to ensure a high quality of care is delivered.

The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings for urgent and emergency care at Queen's and King George hospitals; and data released by NHS England showed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
