Job summary
The Stoma Care Nursing team based at King George Hospital deliver a dedicated and expert service for stoma patients within the hospital and the community of Redbridge. Our team provides individualised care to patients undergoing colorectal surgery resulting in a stoma or ileo-anal pouch within the primary care setting. We continue this care into the community seeing paediatric patients, colorectal and urology patients who have a stoma.
We are looking for a highly motivated, responsible nurse dedication to provide high quality patient centred care for our stoma patients. The position would be suitable for a registered nurse with surgical and colorectal experience who would be looking to further develop their career as a stoma nurse
Main duties of the job
You will provide specialist service to patients who require or potentially require a stoma forming surgery, a fistula, or an ileo-anal pouch.
You will support the patient pre- and post- surgery and provide the required education and advice to the patient and their families/carers to facilitate a smooth transition to discharge. You will continue to offer care and support to patients with a stoma post discharge.
The post will provide support to patients cross site as required.

The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals; anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
