Job summary
This is a key role with responsibility for supporting the Head of Employee Relations and Partnership Working in managing the performance of the Employee Relations Team and in providing a credible, timely and highly specialist employee relations service to the organisation.
The postholder will ensure all employee relations cases and fact-finding investigations related to Agenda for Change staff are effectively managed and resourced. In doing so, supporting the Head of Employee Relations and Partnership Working with the wider strategic ER agenda and the line management of Band 6 Employee Relations Partners and Band 5 Associate ER Partner.
In addition to being responsible for a defined Clinical Group portfolio, the postholder will take a specialist /strategic lead role within the team on disciplinary and grievance-related matters and investigations, and interventions and approaches that support Just Culture in the workplace. Whilst this may be a particular area of expertise and interest, the ER Manager will be expected to possess and demonstrate expertise across the full range of ER matters.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include:
- Provision of support and advice to managers in undertaking and completing investigations into complaints regarding all conduct and performance matters, with support for the writing of reports
- Management and support at hearings and appeals, and in the management of employment tribunal claims, and attendance as required
- Providing expert and timely advice on all employee relations matters
- Advice and assistance to managers on the interpretation and implementation of all Trust HR policies and Agenda for Change Terms and Condition
- The development and delivery of training sessions on Trust HR policies
- Use of Workpro case management tracker
- Management, support and development of junior members of the team

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
