Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our fast paced Endoscopy Unit.
The ideal candidate will have a background working within the NHS or Healthcare Services and proven experience in a similar role. A dynamic attitude towards maintaining a successful admissions process within a busy department is essential. You will work as part of a team providing admissions bookings ensuring that the administrative process are followed to a high standard and patient pathways are correctly adhered to. You should have the ability to work autonomously, be a creative thinker, be passionate about patient care and have strong communication skills.
You must be extremely organised with meticulous attention to detail, you will liaise at all levels with clerical, medical and nursing staff. Knowledge of Careflow and waiting list procedures is essential.
The post is critical to support the provision of a full, efficient and effective waiting list administrative service whilst being committed to meeting the national targets within the diagnostic, RTT and cancer pathways. To facilitate these aims, you will be responsible for ensuring that the principles of the diagnostic and or treatment targets are embedded within the processes employed at every stage.
Main duties of the job
- To manage the admission of patients on the speciality waiting list efficiently
- To effectively monitor and maintain relevant speciality waiting lists
- To ensure the relevant information is entered promptly and accurately onto the Medway System meeting the requirements of the Trust's Patient Access Policy at all times
- To liaise with patients and establish good working relationships with other members of the team
- To provide cover for other Admissions officers in their absence and support for clinic prep as required.
- To monitor and escalate diagnostic waiting times and changes seen
- To compile, save and dispatch accurately and within a set time frame end of month reports
- Liaise with the Endoscopy Team Leader and Service Manager at regular meetings to review waiting times
- Provide supervision, education and support to new and existing members of staff
- Demonstrate escalation process to the Endoscopy Team Leader and Service Manager.

As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive forour teams to innovate and change.
We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
