Job summary

An opportunity for a 10 month fixed term Maternity Leave cover has arisen for a Workforce Services Team Leader to supervise the Workforce Services team and their day to day workflow. The Workforce Services Team (part of the People group) provides a high quality, efficient and responsive transactional and first line advisory service to Trust managers and staff working under the Agends for Change Framework. With an excellent understanding of AFC Terms and conditions, the Workforce Services Team Leader will provide advice and guidance to staff, managers and WS team members. They will ensure consistent standards of service are maintained with a focus on customer service, to support our service users to focus on the delivery of patient care. The Workforce Services Team Leader will supervise the day to day Workforce Services workflow, provide line managment support to existing team members and ensure the team follow the correct policies and procedures.

With a strong financial/payroll background, the WS Team Leader will work with the Trust payroll service partners to ensure payroll output is accurate and to limit liability to the Trust on under and overpayments.

Main duties of the job

The Workforce Services Team Leader will assist the Workforce Services Manager to lead the Workforce Services Team to deliver a high quality, efficient and responsive transactional and first line advisory service to Trust managers and staff. With an excellent understanding of Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions, they will ensure consistent standards of service are maintained with a focus on customer service, this to support our service users to focus on the delivery of patient care.

The Workforce Services Team Leader will supervise the day to day Workforce Services processes, team activities and policies and procedures. Maintaining quality control and analysing complex data to ensure payroll input is complete to deadline and working with the payroll partners to ensure payroll output is correct, taking restorative actions where necessary.

The Workforce Services Team leader will assist the Workforce Services Manager in the management of the external payroll contract, ensuring BHRUT get best value from the contract and contractual obligations are met by the provider.

Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.

As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive forour teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
