Job summary
We are recruiting to a static B6 Occupational Therapy post which offers the option to rotate between the Accredited Elective Surgical Hub and the Hip Fracture Early Supported Discharge Team. There will be opportunity to in-reach to the trauma patients whilst in the community post.
The BHRUT focus is on early intervention to support high quality patient care, therefore orthopaedic experience, excellent communication skills and experience of services such as HomeFirst or Discharge to Assess is an advantage. `
Supervisory skills are required to support students and junior staff. In return, you will receive excellent peer support and service development opportunities working alongside the Band 7 and Clinical Specialist OTs.
You will have opportunity to be involved in developing the hip fracture and high-volume elective orthopaedic pathways. The NHS document 'Delivery plan for tackling the COVID-19 backlog of elective care' (2022) recognised the work of BHRUT therapists in elective orthopaedics.

Main duties of the job
- Through an holistic approach, to provide a high standard of Occupational Therapy service, facilitating and maximising patient potential within the service boundaries.
- To fulfil a teaching and supervisory role with peers, junior staff and students on placement.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
