Job summary

The post offers extensive clinical experience in Respiratory Medicine and General Internal Medicine (GIM). It would be suitable for a FY3/IMT1/CMT1/ST1 trainee in Medicine planning to pursue a career in Respiratory Medicine, Acute Medicine or GIM. It includes GIM on-callcovering nights and weekend.

The post is initially for a one year period with the option of extending further if mutually agreeable.The post will provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidates to gain experience in all aspects of Respiratory Medicine including General and Specialist Respiratory clinics in Lung cancer, Sleep, TB, COPD, Asthma and ILD.

In addition the posts will provide experience in managing acute Respiratory failure including CPAP and NIV, interventional Pleural procedures and thoracic ultrasound.

This post has on call commitments; In addition there will be the opportunity to work with the In-House Bank to participate in the Acute General Medicine on-call.

This is an opportunity to gain experience and training in Respiratory Medicine in a London teaching Hospital. The post holder will be provided with robust clinical supervision. There will be plenty of opportunities to conduct Quality Improvement projects, Audit and Research.

Main duties of the job

Senior Clinical Fellow Respiratory Medicine

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the junior doctor team within Respiratory Medicine at BHRUT.

The successful applicant will be responsible, with appropriate supervision, for the provision of specialist Respiratory Services within the Trust with responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of various Respiratory conditions.

The post holder will cover the inpatient work on the Respiratory wards together with other junior team members. There would also be opportunities to attend outpatient clinics and involvement in elective work.

On call commitment in GIM, including nights and weekends will also be part of the required duties.

This post will give an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a busy Respiratory department whilst working within the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective team working in the respiratory department for the provision of medical care to the patients on the unit.

Full registration with the General Medical Council and Basic Medical Degree (M.B: B.S) are essential. MRCP and previous experience of Respiratory medicine is highly desirable.
