Job summary
The ENT Department, based at Queens Hospital, has the advantage of a large and well equipped Out-Patients Department. This is staffed by experienced clinic nurses and has the support of a CNS for Head and Neck. There is also the facility for Paediatric ENT clinics to be held within the separate Paediatric Clinic area where RSCN assistance is available.
A purpose-built Audiology department is situated adjacent to the ENT clinic area along with Ophthalmology and Maxillo Facial Clinics. The ENT team is dedicated to developing team working with colleagues in these areas.
Clinics are also held at King George Hospital. Provision of these clinics allows us to respond to the needs of the large and diverse community by providing local services.
ENT surgery is carried out across both sites. With our joint neuro cases at Queens. As would be expected in a modern hospital we have the benefit of a well-equipped theatre suites. There are already well-developed links of partnership working with colleagues in Neurosurgery.
Skull Base unit has joint MDT and joint clinics which is supported by well-experienced skull base nurse.
This post will provide ENT across the Trust and is based at Queen's Hospital and King George hospital
The main aspect of this post will be to provide general adult and paediatric care across the site with on-call support. Sub speciality interest in Otology and Neuro-otology (skull base) is required.
Main duties of the job
Consultant ENT Surgeon with Specialist Interest In Otology & Neuro-Otology
- The successful candidate will be joining an innovative, well led ENT team. We are looking for someone to complement the team and actively work to improve services.
- As well as core ENT work the successful candidate must specialise in Otology with further interest in Neuro-Otology. Duties would include clinics, theatres, MDT and on call.
BHRUT is one of the largest Associate Teaching Hospitals, providing acute care for over 700,000 people from across 2 main sites - Queens and King George Hospitals, as well as peripheral sites at Barking, Dagenham and Brentwood. We are a major Neurosciences centre, and are undergoing significant further development as a tertiary referral centre for North East London and Essex, including additional critical care capacity.
In addition, our Trust is in an excellent location, close to Central London and well situated in the South East of the UK. As well as all the advantages of being close to the city, you will discover that Essex has beautiful countryside as well as excellent schools, transport links, amenities and residential areas. The Trust has on-site nursery facilities.
There are good transport links. Car Parking is permit only which you can apply for. There is also an on-site nursery.
