Job summary
The Trust seeks to appoint a Specialist in Intensive Care with an Interest in Critical Care Transfer Medicine. This is a 1 year post and applicants will be expected to have suitable experience in Intensive Care. It would suit an experienced senior speciality doctor who is interested in gaining further experience and publications before applying for CESAR, or a ST 7 trainee wishing to pursue a career in Out of Hospital / Transfer Medicine.
Main duties of the job
1 North East London Critical Care Transfer and Retrieval Service (NECTAR)
The new appointee's transfer medicine training and service delivery will be directly supervised and mentored by Dr Mamoun Abu-Habsa, ITU Consultant with an Interest in Transfer Medicine.
The appointee will work for Nectar 1 week in 8, and have the opportunity to pick up extra paid Nectar shifts in their off weeks if they so wish.
You will be encouraged and supported in carrying out audits and research related to transfer medicine.
You will be encouraged and given time to attend National (e.g. ICS State of the Art) and International ITU Meetings (e.g. ISICEM Brussels).
Note: There is an equivalent of 2.3 SPAs per week included in the job plan which must be directly linked to Personal Development Plan and which have been allocated primarily to Transfer Medicine. With the agreement of Dr Abu-Habsa these SPAs can also be used for audit, project management, attending courses and clinical teaching.
2 ITU Clinical Service Component
On Non-NECTAR days you will work on the Post Op High Risk Surgical Unit (8am to 8.30pm), with distant ITU Consultant supervision at King George's hospital.
In addition you are encouraged to attend virtually ITU Governance meeting 2-3pm on Tuesdays, and ITU MDT meeting 2-3pm Wednesdays.
