Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist. This is a replacement post and the successful candidate will work alongside the existing 3 full-time Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologists and and 2 interventional consultant works. They will be selected on the skills they can bring to the Trust and their ability to integrate into the department.
The post is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the new Consultant contract. The successful applicant must have full GMC registration, possess FRCR (or equivalent), have completed specialist training and be entered on the specialist register of the GMC (or have an expected CCT date within six months of the interview). The applicant should have evidence of suitable neuroradiology sub specialty training.
The radiology department is well equipped with an established capital replacement program. Currently there 5 MRI scanners , There are 2 CT scanners, two flat panel biplane angiogram suites, a robotic general X ray room, and C-arm screening room.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based at The Walton Centre. The post holder will attend as necessary, the relevant Clinical and MDT Meetings that occur at WCFT.
The proposed starting PAs will comprise.
10 PAs in total
8.5 Direct Clinical Care of which 2.75 on average will be interventional sessions. Depending upon experience the appointee may be involved in additional sessions with a more experienced colleague initially.
1.5 Supporting Professional Activities
Direct clinical care activities will include neurointervention both diagnostic and treatment. It also includes attendance of clinical meetings, MDTs, patient administration, clinics and on-call.
Supporting professional activities will include continuing professional development, teaching, audit, research, and preparation for professional annual appraisal. Evidence of the outputs will be expected both for appraisal / re-validation and for the job planning process (see below).
The exact contents of the job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate after appointment. The job plan will be subject to annual review and may be altered by negotiation in response to the changing requirements of the neuroradiology service in light of changing demand or retirements.
The Job Plan outline for this post will consist of 10 PAs currently over five days, 9 to 5. There is also an on-call commitment which will be 1 in 6 ( 3 session allocated for this).

It should cover all aspects of a consultants professional practice, including clinical work, teaching, audit, research, education and managerial responsibilities.
