Job summary
- To utilise advanced assessment skills, knowledge and complex decision-making processes to manage patients presenting with spinal conditions. These patients may have many co-existing, diverse medical and neurological presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
- To learn, develop and utilise skills often not considered part of a physiotherapist role, such as ordering and interpreting investigations and referral to other specialities etc. Maintenance of competency in these skills will need to be demonstrated and maintained.
- To develop and deliver individualised and tailored patient management giving highly specialised advice and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
- To provide clinical leadership and highly specialist physiotherapy advice to the spinal teams, co-ordinate CPD activities and maintain a high standard of professional and clinical practice for self and all staff in the service.
- To act as a source of expertise on the management of spinal conditions and provide advisory service to patients, physiotherapists, other health care professionals, GP's and Consultants.
- Work closely with referring GP's, providing support and acting as a triage gateway.
- To continually monitor the quality of the service through clinical audits and utilise these to establish protocols and guidelines for development of new services.
- Post-operative review of spinal patients.
- Attendance at the multi-disciplinary meeting.
