Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a full-time Band 5 Occupational Therapist for rotations across our acute and rehabilitation wards on a permanent basis.

As a member of the Walton Centre therapy service you will be part of our exceptional multidisciplinary team providing specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programmes for adults. Rotating within the fields of acute neurology, acute neurosurgery and neuro-rehabilitation, you will receive training, support and appraisal from highly skilled specialist occupational therapy staff as well as regular shared learning opportunities across the MDT.

Applicants will have excellent communication and organisational skills and will be strong team players with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Foundation Trust is a world-renowned Centre of excellence in neurological care with a strong emphasis on education, research and development.

Due to the specialist nature of the hospital, this role would ideally suit occupational therapists with post-qualification experience in a general/acute hospital setting.

Main duties of the job

To assess and treat patients within designated specialist clinical area.

To work flexibly according to service needs

To assist senior therapy staff in service development and the provision of a quality service.

To take responsibility where appropriate, for therapy assistant staff and students and delegate duties as necessary, providing appropriate level of support at all times.

Under the direction of supervisor and other team members assist with specified areas of service provision as appropriate

Where appropriate participate in clinical rotations across all areas of the Walton Centre Therapy service as directed by Therapy Managers.

Establish and manage a clinical caseload as appropriate to the service

To work collaboratively with other clinicians, including medical and nursing staff to influence service development and ensure quality of care is delivered

To provide clinical education and training to other health care professionals

Influence research and professional development for self and others.
