Job summary
We are inviting applications for the post of a Consultant Neurosurgeon who will work independently within the Neurovascular Surgery team and provide support to the Neurosurgical Service at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust (WCFT)
The position will be primarily to work within the Neurovascular service offering emergency and elective care, but also to support general neurosurgery and Skull Base.
The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust is an independent specialist neuroscience NHS Trust hospital providing a high quality, integrated and multidisciplinary neuroscience service to Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and part of West Lancashire which totals a population of 3.2 million.The trust has been rated outstanding by the CQC. The Walton Centre is adjacent to the Aintree University Hospital which is a busy District General Hospital Trust and the major trauma centre for the region, located 6 miles from the centre of Liverpool.
The successful candidate must have full General Medical Council (GMC) registration, have completed Specialist Training in Neurosurgery, and be entered onto specialist register, and have undergone a Vascular Fellowship.
Main duties of the job
The Division of Neurosurgery at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust (WCFT) is seeking to recruit a Consultant Neurosurgeon with an interest in neurovascular surgery. The successful candidate will work independently within the Vascular service, joining a 1:4 acute vascular take rota, participate in weekly vascular MDT meeting and provide support in acute and elective vascular cases.
In addition to being a member of the neurovascular team, you will provide general on-call neurosurgical cover (1:19).
