There is an exciting opportunity to join the Pre-Op Team within Liverpool Women's department. We are currently recruiting for a Pre-Op Assessment Nurse:

- 1 Full Time (37.5 hours per week)

The role of pre operative assessment practitioner is to be accountable for their own practice including the assessment and referral of patients, working autonomously within the pre-operative assessment clinic. Implementing care, providing specialist advice and clinical practice and drawing up clinical management plans whilst mindful of pathways, guidelines and targets.

Supporting and contributing to development of clinical pathways, service improvement and re design initiatives within the area.

An essential criteria of this role is a Clinical Examination course; however, we are also keen to receive applications from practitioners who are looking to develop in to this role and who are willing to undertake a 3-4 month Clinical Examination course (Annex 21 provisions would apply to those in a developing role).

Main duties of the job

Assess patients, plan and implement care providing specialist advice and maintaining appropriate records. Carry out specialist nursing procedures, i.e. clinical examination, recording and interpreting ECG's. Act as a resource person to others, providing advice and support to the MDT, patients and relatives.

Function at experienced nurse level, able to make effective decisions. Facilitate the education of registered and non registered staff.

Assist in the management of the department to ensure excellence in patient care and to have responsibility for staff and service development.Develop the clinical protocols and SOPs.

Contribute to an effective, motivated and competent workforce and ensure that high quality standards are maintained and developed. Contribute to the development of performance review in accordance with Trust policy. Be receptive to change with the Department and encourage new ideas and developments.

Demonstrate people management skills, delegation, negotiation and assertiveness as appropriate.
