Pharmacy Team Leader (Higher Level Technician)
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust provides highly-specialist cancer care for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.
In June 2020, we opened Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool, our spectacular new cancer hospital in the heart of Liverpool's Knowledge Quarter, providing state-of-the-art facilities as part of a £162m investment.
It is an exciting time for the Pharmacy Production unit at CCC-Liverpool, which has recently obtained an MHRA specials licence. The department is developing batch production through the use of VHP gassing Isolator technology. We have opportunities to increase our Band 5 Team Leader Technicians to support our expanding service. We are looking for enthusiastic, forward thinking and experienced candidates to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is an important position within our large, diverse and welcoming pharmacy team.
Working pattern will be: 37.5 hours per week, 08:00 - 18:00 x 3 days , 08:00 - 17.30 x 1 day (Rolling day off). Weekends and on-call on a rota basis.
Part time hours will be considered.
Main duties of the job
In summary you will:
- Provide leadership to Entry Level Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants.
- To participate in the training of Technicians, Student Technicians and production assistants in all aspects of aseptic production.
- Make suggestions concerning and actively contribute to the organisation of work to ensure the effective utilisation of staff time and resources.
- To keep abreast of new developments and attend such training courses as from time to time as may be deemed necessary to develop and enhance accuracy as appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining adequate stocks of materials for dispensing chemotherapy.
- Take responsibility for cross-checking transcribed worksheets from prescription to ensure accuracy before aseptic preparation of drugs.
- Maintaining personal validation in aseptic manipulation.
- Refer any non-protocol or non-standard prescriptions to relevant authority.
- Need to refer matters requiring expert advice to the appropriate pharmacist e.g. availability of drugs/release of intrathecal chemotherapy.
